The most common type of timber bracket is a three piece bracket. They are typically used underneath the soffit of a building to meet either a structural need or an aesthetic desire. These brackets consists of a vertical timber which will go against the wall of your structure, a horizontal timber which will go under the soffit of your structure, and a brace which runs diagonally between the vertical and horizontal timbers to create a triangle. Three piece brackets can be used both during original construction and/or to beautify an existing project. To view the assembly instructions for installing the brackets, click here.
Another type of bracket is the shed bracket. It is much like a three piece bracket with the addition of a fourth timber on top pitching away from the attached structure. Shed brackets are commonly installed over doors and windows to create a small shed roof area providing shelter from the weather and/or sun.
Shed brackets have the same options as the three piece with the added addition of choosing a roof pitch available in 8:12, 10:12, or 12:12.
